On February 20th, at 12:00 Media Center hosted a discussion on topic “Civil activism’s influence on the election and post election period”. The speakers of the discussion are civil activists Lena Ghazaryan, Artur Avtandilyan, Tsovinar Nazaryan, Marine Manucharyan-Giragosian, Arpine Ghalafyan and Vanik Chaloyan a member of the Nicol Aghbalyan student union of Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF).
The young activists boycotted and interrupted the international observers’ speech of OSCE and PACE, when the observers were reporting to mass media that the presidential elections of Armenia were again one step forward towards international standards of democracy and freedom.
Lena Nazaryan who was the one who presented the declaration of appeal noted that what they have done “was not heroic”, and generally it shall be implanted within the society that every person is able to “make a change”.
“By participating in elections and seeing how the proxies of the Republican Party hand in hand with the election commissions are falsifying elections we are not able to do anything else” noted Nazaryan.
Arpine Galafyan mentioned that Armenian society demonstrates activeness only ones in five years.
“The people are inclined that all the time connect their hopes with “savers and missions” this tendency shall be overcome, in this way we can’t avoid disappointment” thinks Galafyan.
Arsen Kharatyan residing in Washington, joined the discussion via skype, who mentioned that now in Armenia there is formulated a strong and vibrant civil society which has all the potential to become a serious factor and moving force.
